With the release of Edge of Fate, Destiny 2 has seen the addition of a new Hand Cannon archetype: Spread-Shot. This archetype currently features two weapons, one of which is the Aureus Neutralizer. Here, we’ll break down whether the weapon is good, how to get it, and what the god rolls are.

How good is Aureus Neutralizer
Aureus Neutralizer is a very solid option thanks to the Spread-Shot archetype being pretty decent inside of PvE. The base damage of this weapon archetype is remarkably high, and the presence of perks like Trench Barrel, synergized with Grave Robber, can only boost this further. Of course, there is also notable synergy with One-Two Punch, as an infinite-ammo option that allows for consistent, close-range brawling. Alternatively, if you’re interested in going for a more DPS-focused roll, Vorpal Weapon and Cascade Point can work great, especially if you decide to pair this weapon with Lucky Pants to boost the DPS even higher.
In PvP, Aureus Neutralizer is a strong option thanks to how easy the gun can be to use. While it won’t outperform other options at range, it can be used like a pocket shotgun, but with infinite ammo. With how limited Special Ammo can be at times, it can be handy to have this in your pocket for times when you want something potent at close range. This strength is amplified by some of its perks, making Aureus Neutralizer a strong pick in the right hands. Aureus Neutralizer is A-Tier for PvE and A-Tier for PvP.

Aureus Neutralizer Perks and God Rolls
The Aureus Neutralizer Kinetic hand cannon can roll with the following perks:
- Perk 1: Barrel Constrictor, Grave Robber, Lone Wolf, Threat Detector, Threat Remover, Proximity Power, and Vorpal Weapon
- Perk 2: Adagio, Cascade Point, Closing Time, Desperate Measures, One-Two Punch, Trench Barrel, and Opening Shot
- Origin Trait: Fleet Footed, Roar of Battle, and Hakke Breach Armaments
Aureus Neutralizer PvE god rolls
| PvE Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Barrel Shroud |
| Magazine | Appended Mag |
| Perk 1 | Vorpal Weapon or Grave Robber |
| Perk 2 | Trench Barrel or Cascade Point (also good: One-Two Punch) |
| Masterwork | Range or Handling |
| Origin Trait | Roar of Battle |
Aureus Neutralizer has some very low base stats, so we will try to bump these up slightly with Barrel Shroud, a Range or Handling Masterwork, and the Roar of Battle Origin Trait. Appended Mag is decent in the magazine slot to simply boost the amount of ammo we have in a mag.
For perk 1, we suggest Grave Robber to keep the ammo on this gun topped off to avoid a lengthy reload; however, Vorpal Weapon is also a good option for DPS. For perk 2, our picks are Trench Barrel or Cascade Point. Trench Barrel will be the preference for anyone wanting to focus on actual weapon damage; meanwhile, Cascade Point is a suitable alternative, particularly if you want to boost the DPS on this gun. One-Two Punch is a good alternative for players who want to lean into the melee aspect of this weapon.
Aureus Neutralizer PvP god rolls
| PvP Roll: All-Around | |
|---|---|
| Barrel | Corkscrew Rifling |
| Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
| Perk 1 | Lone Wolf |
| Perk 2 | Closing Time or Opening Shot |
| Masterwork | Range or Handling |
| Origin Trait | Roar of Battle |
Aureus Neutralizer has a few bad stats, so opting for Corkscrew Rifling is best to bump them all up slightly. Accurised Rounds is also excellent to bump the range up a bit, helping Aureus Neutralizer contest some slightly longer angles beyond pure close-quarter combat.
For perk 1, we suggest Lone Wolf as it is simply the most viable option in column one. Aim assist, some ADS snappiness and Airborne Effectiveness is never bad. For perk 2, we suggest Closing Time or Opening Shot. Closing Time massively boosts the Handling on the weapon when low ammo, and helps with the range too, meanwhile Opening Shot can turn some longer-range duels into a 2-tap rather than a 3-tap.
How to get Aureus Neutralizer
Aureus Neutralizer is a Trials of Osiris weapon, meaning you need to step into Trials to get it. This can be found in the Crucible Ops section of The Portal. Before entering Trials, you’ll need to head to Saint-14 in the Hangar and purchase a Trials passage. The weapon can drop from the ends of Trials matches or at the Lighthouse chest. Wins will increase drop rates. We cover the Trials weapon this week here.
