Borderlands 4 has arrived, and the loot chase across Kairos is in full swing. Vault Hunters everywhere are always looking for ways to enhance their builds or find the next best Legendary weapon, and SHiFT codes are a cool way to do this.

What are SHiFT codes?

SHiFT codes are unique, single-use 25-digit codes that must be redeemed on Gearbox’s website. You must create an account and link your profile before you can redeem and use the rewards in-game.  Once redeemed, Vault Hunters can be granted anything from weapons to cosmetics or a golden key.

The golden keys can be used to open golden chests found within the Borderlands 4 world. The currently known locations for golden chests are: 

• The Launchpad (The Fadefields)
• Belton’s Bore (Terminus Range)
• Carcadia (Carcadia Burn)
• The Lockaway (Dominion)

How to get SHiFT codes

SHiFT codes are usually handed out through Gearbox’s official channels, the Borderlands 4 official account on X/Twitter, or by the Gearbox CEO, Randy Pitchford, so keep an eye on these key areas for new code drops. Or bookmark this page, we’ll be updating daily!

What is in the golden key chests? 

First, ensure you are logged into SHiFT by going to the start menu. If you aren’t logged in or there are any issues there, the chest will not open, and you will receive a message stating ‘Transaction in progress’ 

Golden key chests can hold any rarity of loot, all the way from blues and purples to legendary gear. The items will also scale to your level and above, so the keys are worth using at any Vault Hunter level to enhance your loadout. 

These rewards are also randomised, so like most reward chests found in Kairos, you never know what you’re going to get. Each golden key is single-use, so good luck when opening one of these special, golden chests.
